President's
Message
Dear Distinguished Members of the Bench and Bar:
It is with great pride and excitement that I am writing
about the Alabama Lawyers Association (ALA). ALA is the largest
legal organization in the state dedicated exclusively to
the fellowship and professional advancement of minority lawyers.
This year marks ALA's 35th Anniversary, and the events planned
for the next few months are designed to commemorate this
significant year for the organization.
ALA members will gather from May 31 to June 2, 2008, in
Cancun, Mexico for the Spring Retreat. The interest in this
program so far has been overwhelming, and we are expecting
this retreat to be one of the most successful in ALA's history.
Additionally, our Annual Meeting this year will take place
in Birmingham from September 19 to 21, 2008, at the Renaissance
Ross Bridge Golf Resort and Spa. Please join us for both
of these events. By doing so, you will have the advantages
of obtaining CLE credits, meeting members who serve in the
Judiciary, networking with other minority lawyers, and participating
in programs which are designed to generate funds in support
of ALA's law student internship program. Please visit ALA's
website, www.ala-lawyers.org, to obtain CLE, registration,
and travel information.
If you have been a member of ALA in recent years, please
take this opportunity to download and complete an application
form, and submit it with your annual dues. If you have not
yet joined ALA, please accept this invitation to become a
member of this meaningful organization. You may download
an application form and submit it with your dues.
I look forward to seeing you soon.
Very truly yours,
Elisabeth French
President, Alabama Lawyers Association
